No Visual Yet — Words Can’t Show The Proof GPS Can

Seems to me that this incident shouldn’t have been going on at this level of confusion for so long. As I reported last nigh the British have, far too late in my view, released GPS tracking data which clearly shows HMS Cornwall was within the Iraqi territorial waters she was authorized to be in. These international incidents at borders are as old as borders themselves though and with today’s technology we ought to be getting the information out more clearly and much, much sooner.

The map above is pretty but doesn’t property to show where the capture took place. Why do I say it’s important to get this word out sooner? Because despite of the printed words talking about border laws and legalities this is pure and simple a case of popularity in the court of world opinion.

If the world (and particularly the Muslim world) believes the British version of the incident, the Iranians lose face and credibility. If they believe the British are hiding something then the cause of Islamic extremism goes up another notch of the scale. There is everything to lose and nothing to gain by dragging this out.

In my view the British ought to be blanketing the airwaves with the proof they already have of the unjustness of this illegal kidnapping and there should be dozens of annotated maps out there on the ‘Net to help public opinion form the right opinion. Too late, too little says Dave.
