Something GPS To Be Thankful For

orange_spotI’ve been intending to write about this service for a couple days now.  Can’t wait any longer.  Winter is here in the northern hemisphere and so is gift giving time … safey and gift gadgets, how much better does it get?

There are many ways to keep in touch while travelling and also many safety-related tools … for kids traveling alone on airlines all the way up to polar explorers.  very few systems work virtually anywhere and a very small subset of those are affordable and available from Amazon (and other retailers).

behold the SPOT .. Satellite POsitioning Tracker … you need one if:

  • You want people to be able to find you in an emergency
  • You don’t want to be tracked unless you have a 911 situation
  • You want a child to be able to report progress on a trip
  • Only about one thousand other uses I can think of.

Don’t be fooled by the fact those looks vaguely like a cell phone.  It’s a full-fledged satellite tracking system that will do things no cell phone can even dream of.

You can find all the detauls of how this long-overdue tool works at the SPOT Finder website.

Or, you cna just click the Amazon link over on the right sidebar to order one and try it … you can’t lose and the difference between coming home in coach and coming home in cargo (in a remains box) can be well worth it.
