GPS Tracking Device Abuse and Use in our Society
A lot of bloggers, (and sadly, quite a few Sploggers), are working blogs about “GPS”. many just re-write annoucements of new, consumer level in car navigators. Norhing wrong with that, but there’s much more to GPS and GPS tracking than a moving map on your dashboard.
Strictly speaking these little screens from Best Buy an other retailers aren’t GPS trackers, they are personal navigators … they only report the vehicle location to the driver of the car, visually.
Real tracking involves a GPS receiver in the car, or on the parolee’s ankle, a method of transmitting that informatuion to one or more dispatch centers or government or company offices, and some sort of software to show the mobile assets on a map … and generate business reports that can save money and improve operations.
Here’s a realtively new blog that’s attempting to do as I do, dig a little deeper into the technocalites of GPS and the issues …. good and bad … that surround it. Recommended
