Going How? Fast?
Some may think this is just a wacky story from Australia … was this woman really going 216 kilometers per hour (over 134 mph), and if she was, why the heck do I care?
Well if you have a teenage driver, or if you run a business (or even worse, if you have a business which employees teenage drives, pizza delivery anyone?) then you do care.
People will amaze you with what they can do when they aren’t being monitored and sometimes the amazing acts can be potentially deadly.
Not long ago I installed some of our GeoTab no monthly cost GPS business monitor boxes on a local distributor’s fleet. After the first week the fleet own found that one of his drivers (who traveled long distances, often on Interstates) was had exceeded the companies 80 mph maximum speed rule 3 times. He told me he was taking action to warn the driver and to fire him if the offenses continued.
The the owner and I then looked at the records for another driver, one who drove his business miles only within the city, never traveling on roads where the speed limit was higher than 50 .. much of his routes were in 35 or 40 mile zones and included many 20 mph school zones. The ‘in town’ guy exceeded 80 mph 21 times in his first week of monitoring!
Use our product, use a competitor’s product, but for goodness sake and for the sake of our children use _something_.
Speed kills, and you can’t manage what you can’t measure.
